In recent years, the iron foundry ULDALL in Vejen, Denmark, has been on a growth journey with large orders and many new hires. In the latter part of 2023, production has stabilized, and with a turnover of just over EUR 10.6 million in 2023, it was nine percent lower than the previous year, which is considered satisfactory by the iron foundry.

Since 2021, the iron foundry ULDALL in Vejen, Denmark, has been extraordinarily busy. Large orders were landed, and this triggered two breathtaking years of strong growth and many new hires, which meant that in both 2022 and 2023 they had to work two shifts for the first time since 2009.

The first half of 2023 continued to be busy, and several production records were broken, while the second part of 2023 settled into a more natural state. Revenue for 2023 amounted to EUR 10.6 million, which is nine percent lower than the previous year, while net profit of EUR 804.000 was almost 17 percent lower than in 2022.

- Of course, the fluctuation in revenue and activity has not been a cost-free exercise. However, the decrease in revenue from 2022 can primarily be attributed to lower surcharges due to stabilized electricity prices, and overall, 2023 has been satisfactory, says Sales Director Dion Brun.

ULDALL is part of the BIRN Group, one of Northern Europe's largest foundry groups. BIRN in Holstebro and TASSO in Odense are the group's other Danish companies, while KOCKUMS MASKIN in Sweden, BIRN GERMANY in Germany and TASSO BERNAREGGI in Italy are also part of the BIRN Group. In 2023, a new strategy and a new visual corporate identity for the foundry group was launched, which will support increased collaboration across the group companies.

- Our collaboration across the group and in different functions within the companies has intensified. We work together as one team across the group and subsidiaries, and over the past year we have optimized cooperation on common customers and markets, says Claus Beier, CEO of BIRN Group.

For the second year in a row, BIRN Group has published a sustainability report that provides a comprehensive overview of how the group works with climate, environmental, social and management initiatives to support the upcoming EU sustainability reporting requirements. ULDALL is also noticing a growing awareness among customers that the carbon footprint is an important factor when choosing products.

- It is crucial that we can inform our customers about the CO2 emissions of each of our cast iron items, which is why it is extremely important that we are well underway with climate reporting at both group and company level. It's a competitive parameter we can't avoid, says Dion Brun.
